Prof. Dr. med. Dr. hc Roland Hetzer is the founding director of the German Heart Center Berlin, which under his leadership has achieved an international top position. So many heart transplants have been carried out by the German Heart Center Berlin since its opening in 1989. Most of the operations were done by Prof. Roland Hetzer himself. A special hallmark of Roland Hetzer was cardiac surgery for high-risk patients such as infants and the elderly. As one of Germany's leading cardiac surgeons, Hetzer has introduced numerous new treatments, including aortic valve relocation in the case of aortic insufficiency and aortic ascending aneurysm , aortic root remodeling in Marfan syndrome with aortic root aneurysm or the establishment of hybrid surgery in Berlin high-risk patients. Prof Hetzer is an emeritus professor now. Even at the age of 70, He does not want to say goodbye to his retirement: "I'm going on, and there's no such thing as a successor."

Cardiac Surgery

He has been a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery for over 15 years and was appointed as Senior Lecturer/Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Bristol Heart Institute in 1999 and subsequently NHS Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary from 2002. Over the years, he has held several positions of responsibility including the Programme Director for Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chairman of the Specialist Training Committee in the United Kingdom (UK) South West Region; and Research and Development Leader for the United Bristol Healthcare Trust, UK. He was Audit Lead and subsequently Clinical Governance representative for Cardiac Surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, UK. In 2005 he was appointed as Head of Cardiac Surgery at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and in 2007 as Chief, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, CUHK, Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. In addition, Professor Underwood is Chairman of Specialty Group in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Hong Kong, Chairman of the Cardiothoracic Board, the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong and is Professor, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

His clinical interests are centered on aortic surgery, valvular surgery, valve repair, in addition to clinical audit and training.

Amir Landesberg, MD DSc is a staff member and former Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion. He has B.Sc. in Electrical engineering, MD, and DSc (PhD) in biomedical engineering. He received post-doctoral training in Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, at the University of Calgary. The interdisciplinary studies combine engineering with medical sciences and yield quantitative characterization of the normal and failing hearts. Dr. Landesberg work has been published in the highly esteemed journals. He is the founder of several medical device companies and spin-outs in the fields of cardiology, pulmonology and intensive care.

Sergey Suchkov, MD, PhD was born in 11.01.1957, a researcher-immunologist, a clinician, graduated from Astrakhan State Medical University, Russia, in 1980.Suchkov has been trained at the Institute for Medical Enzymology, The USSR Academy of Medical Sciences,National Center for Immunology (Russia), NIH, Bethesda, USA) and British Society for Immunology to cover 4 British university facilities. Since 2005, Dr Suchkov has been working as Faculty Professor of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and Of A.I.Evdokimov Moscow State Medical & Dental University. From 2007, Suchkov is the First Vice-President and Dean of the School of PPPM Politics and Management of the University of World Politics and Law. In 1991-1995, Dr Suchkov was a Scientific Secretary-in-Chief of the Editorial Board of the International Journal“Biomedical Science” (Russian Academy of Sciences and Royal Society of Chemistry, UK) and The International Publishing Bureau at the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1995-2005, Suchkov was a Director of the Russian-American Program in Immunology of the Eye Diseases.Dr Suchkov is a member of EPMA (European Association of Predictive, Preventive and Personalized Medicine,Brussels-Bonn), a member of the NY Academy of Sciences, a member of the Editorial Boards for Open Journal of Immunology and others. Dr Suchkov is known as an author of the Concept of post-infectious clinical and immunological syndrome, co-author of a concept of abzymes and their impact into the pathogenesis of autuimmunity conditions, and as one of the pioneers in promoting the Concept of PPPM into a practical branch of health services.

Dr. Ellahham is a Board-certified internist, cardiologist and vascular medicine senior consultant and continues to care for patients. He received his undergraduate degree in biology and his M.D. from the American University of Beirut. He did his fellowship in Cardiology at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) in USA. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Ellahham worked in Washington DC in several clinical and leadership positions before moving to UAE in 1988. He led the First AHA GWTG Heart Failure Initiative outside US and was the recipient of the AHA GWTG Award in Wash. DC. His clinical passion and expertise is in the field of heart failure management. He demonstrated great skill and experience in the management of patients with heart failure and led a multi-disciplinary team in the care and delivery of advanced therapies to these patients. He has unique abilities to partner and engage local and regional referring providers. He is able to work in a highly matrixed environment, possess strong leadership and organizational skills and have experience to working effectively in a large health system. He is currently a Cleveland Clinic Staff and the member of Executive Team of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Cardiology and Vascular Medicine

Marco Picichè (MD, Ph.D.) graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Florence in 1995 and completed his cardiac surgery residency at the Tor Vergata University of Rome in 2000, both summa cum laude. He held regular teaching appointments at the university of Montpellier school of medicine, obtained certification by the French Board in cardiac surgery (Paris, 2007), earned his research master in surgical science (Paris, 2007), and received a university diploma in vascular surgery (Paris, 2007). In Canada he authored a research project on the occlusion of the internal mammary arteries as an alternative method of myocardial blood supply (2008, Laval University). In May 2009 he had the honor of opening the 44th Congress of the European Society for Surgical Research with a lecture on ‘‘The history of surgical research.’’ In September 2011 he received a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in therapeutic innovations from Paris-Sud University. He is the Editor in Chief of the book: « Dawn and evolution of cardiac procedures: research avenues in cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology » (Springer-Verlag publishing house, September 2012). He patented a new surgical instrument. Currently he is a cardiac surgeon in Italy.

Cardiac surgery

Dr.Sibel Catirli Enar,FESC,FACC,FASE is an associate Professor of Cardiology. She graduated from Istanbul Medical School in 1981.She completed her specialization in anesthesiology and critical care in Istanbul Medical School in 1985 and in Cardiology at Istanbul University Institute of Cardiology in 1992.She has also worked as research fellow at Cleveland Clinic of Foundation, USA from 1996-1998 and at University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA from 2006-2008.She is currently working as a cardiologist at Sur Hospital/Sisli Memorial Hospital in Istanbul/Turkey. Her main area of interest is echocardiography. She has publications in national and international journals, served as speaker and moderator in national and international congresses, and participated in multicenter studies. She is also author of chapters in several books: 1) Metabolic syndrome in women (2015),2)Interesting cases in echocardiography (NC Nanda)2017.

Echocardiography

Carlos Cabrera is an Interventional Cardiologist graduated from the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), with more than 20 years of experience as a specialist. He has a Master's Degree in Public Administration and a Diploma in Hospital Quality and Management. He has been President of the Society of Interventional Cardiology of Mexico and Vice President of the Mexican Society of Cardiologists Graduates of the Medical Center La Raza. He has participated as Professor in more than 30 National and International Congresses and published articles in important scientific journals. He is currently Director of the Institute of Endovascular Therapy of Mexico and Professor at the Anahuac University.

Interventional cardiology

Osama El Razaky had completed MD Pediatric at age of 32 years from Tanta Universty .He has done his postdoctoral studies in cardiac deformation.He is a head of Egyptian Pediatric Cardiology Association and a member of Egyptian universities promotion committee(Professor of Pediatrics'). Member of European Association of Cardio Vascular Imaging (EACVI).He is now acting as a professor of Pediatric (Cardiology Unit ) in Tanta Uneversity. He has published 20 papers in international journal and has been serving as a Reviewer for Acta Paediatric. Member of European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) . Also an editor of journal of Cardiology and Cardiovascular science; Novel Techniques in Nutrition & Food Science and Journal of Cardiology & Vascular Research. He was a supervisior of 100 MS and 25 MD thesis in Pediatrics.He is working as echographer in Pediatrics since 25 years. His main interest is in pediatric echocardiography especially:TDI,STI and 3DStrain.
